What does Houston Texas, Italy, and Space have in common?
More than you think...
Yesterday the Italian Trade Agency hosted a Demo Day for the the first "all-Italian" Aerospace Vertical Acceleration Program at the Ion District, a beautiful 266K sq. ft. innovation district in Houston, Texas.
Here are the six startups that presented:
First up was Involve Space who've built a pseudo-satellite platform and AI software to support and enable access to space. The product lines targets the High Altitude Platforms (HAPS) market including a constellation of stratospheric balloons.
Nabu was next to present their solution for smart irrigation. By leveraging new data streams such as satellite and sensors, Nabu has created a holistic solution for optimizing irrigation systems remotely in order to maximize crop yields.
Delta Space Leonis are facilitating low-cost satellite connectivity through three primary systems accompanied by launch services:
1. PicoSat - a satellite deployer
2. PocketQube - a miniature satellite
3. Ground stations - services for continuous connectivity
Space exploitation to date has already created over 129 million pieces of debris with only 0.04% coverage of precise location data.provides space traffic management and Earth observation services using and operating proprietary CubeSats nanosatellites.
One of the most established presenters wawho develops innovative engines across one of widest portfolios of space propulsion systems in the world.
Last but not least was Novac Supercap, a supercapacitator manufacturer. While traditional batteries are great for a slow and constant energy release, supercaps can store and release energy in faster, more intense surges making it relevant for high-intensity use cases.
We'll be covering more a lot more innovation out of in the coming months and the broader Houston area as part of the build_cities network, a supranational network of startup cities.
